The Centre for the Study of Emotion and Law is a Research Centre with the aim of disseminating high quality applied research in order to benefit people who have been oppressed and victimised, who are entitled to basic state protection and the chance to rebuild their lives.

¨ CSEL has endorsed the Charter of Rights of Women Seeking Asylum, launched by the Refugee Womens’ Resource Project at Asylum Aid— www.asylumaid.org.uk

¨ CSEL has received its first major funding—for a 3 year project examining further reasons why discrepancies may occur in asylum seekers’ accounts of their experiences (see Current Projects)
